How it Works
Commissioning a painted mural
Process
I paint the murals in my studio on polycarbonate sheets. This allows the hospital /client to install the murals with the least possible disruption. It also gives me time and space to create highly detailed artwork that is appealing to all ages.
Materials
I paint the murals on fire-resistant polycarbonate sheets using acrylic paint. The murals are then varnished with a tough anti-graffiti varnish.
Project example
Here are the details of a mural I completed for the Plymouth Hospital UTC department (pictured above). The mural measures 120x80cm.
The design, painting and varnishing of the mural cost £895. The materials, including polycarbonate sheet, paint and varnish, cost £165.
Total cost is £1060.
Free quote
Murals can be made to just about any size and proportion. I am happy to provide a free quote on request.
Fire-resistant
All materials have a zero fire rating and have been approved by fire officers at every hospital where I have worked.
Cleaning and Longevity
The murals are coated with a tough, stain-free varnish and can be wiped clean. The varnish is guaranteed for more than 20 years. This means the murals will look as good after a couple of decades as they do on the first day they are installed.
Commissioning
Step 1
I’m happy to discuss a project via email, phone or online meeting.
Step 2
I will conduct a site visit, if necessary, review the space for the murals, and take measurements.
Step 3
Once the murals' theme, scale, and positioning are agreed upon, I will provide detailed pencil drawings of the designs.
Step 4
Once the designs are approved, I will paint the murals. After final approval, I will varnish the murals.
Delivery and installation
I will deliver the murals to the hospital site. The hospital estates or their contractors have installed all the murals to date. They have been either glued or screwed to the walls. I‘m able to consult on installation in person, free of charge, if it is on the same day as delivery.
Delivery costs start at £100 and may increase depending on the project's size and location.
